Shortly after buying our bit of land, we built our yurt in a nice corner of the field. This is a picture taken during the first week after we finished building it – it’s still looking pristine. It doesn’t look quite so clean and shiny after more than two years, one wettest summers and a coldest winter in recent history. But considering it is made of wood, wool and canvas, with a few bits of rope – some of them made of horse hair – it hasn’t faired too badly.
I’m very envious! Your new life venture sounds wonderful.
We only visited Wales for the first time last year – the Pembrokeshire coast – and fell in love with it.
We’re from the grotty part of Essex (Southend-on-sea)and dream of escaping to a far more rural area, so I will follow your blog with much interest and envy 🙂
Well Jan you should definitely check out Carmarthenshire, it’s amazing. Plus if you go back to Pembs, next year, check out Skomer Island, I work for the Wildlife Trust which manages it. In May it is covered in bluebells and puffins.
